Dam removal seminar in Stockholm

A seminar on dam removal will be celebrated on the 24-26 of September in the Swedish city of Hudiksvall, approximately two hours and a half north from Stockholm. 

The seminar will be 3 days long, 2 days for talks and the last day for the fieldtrip to dam removal sites. The first day there will be different presentations about dam removal (social issues, policy in European countries, Hydropower perspective, etc.) and the second day there will be real case studies presentations. On this second day there are still free slots available, to share your dam/weir removal projects at the seminar please send an e-mail to pao@fishmigration.org .

 

Confirmed keynote speakers are: 

  • Jaakko Erkinaro – Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE). The impact of dams on migratory fish
  • Anne Shaffer – Coastal Watershed Institute (USA). Nearshore effects of the Elwha dam removal
  • Pao Fernández Garrido – World Fish Migration Foundation. Dam removal 101 and From Sea To Source Book 
  • Stephane Fraisse - French National Institute for Agricultural Research. Pre- and post-removal study of Vézin and La Roche dams.
