Following a successful kick-off meeting organized by EURAC in Bozen/Bolzano (IT) on 15-16 February 2016 we met again in July: our 1st partner meeting was organized by our partner IRSNC on 04-05 July 2016 in Ljubljana (SI), the “European Green Capital” 2016.
Our fruitful two-day meeting started with a warm welcome by Darij Krajčič (director of the IRSNC), Branka Tavzes (from the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment and Spatial planning) and Caroline Pecher (EURAC). Tina Trampuš from IRSNC, co-leader of the EUSALP action group 7, provided us with an insight into the current activities in EUSALP action groups 6 and 7, which the AlpES project will be supporting. The first day came to an end with a warm welcome by the mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković at city hall.
During the meeting, our work packages T1, T2, T3 and T4 presented their current state of development and we discussed and decided on the next steps to be taken. In WP T1 we are currently preparing the ground for the development of a common understanding of ecosystem services and a harmonized ecosystem service mapping and assessment concept. In WP T2 we have started collecting data and indicators and have also chosen our test regions, which will be presented on this website soon! WP T3 has been busy with reorganizing WIKIAlps – the Alpine wiki (www.wikialps.eu) – and WP T4 has started collecting first information for the development of the capacity building model.
After a successful meeting, from which we took home many ideas, decisions and tasks, some of us went on a very fun and interesting field trip to the Slovenian test region!
