The “Préalpes d’Azur” Regional Park, France
The Regional Park is a well-preserved mountainous rural area over a coastline. Established by Executive Decree on 30 March 2012, the “Préalpes d’Azur” Regional Park is located in the south of France, in the department of Alpes-Maritimes (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region). The park reaches from 300 to 1800 m.a.s.l. and has a double climatic influence: Mediterranean and mountainous. It comprises 45 municipalities with 31270 inhabitants living in 88940 ha. The park is home to over 2000 plant species, which is approximatively one third of the French flora. It is the largest pastoral resource in the Alpes Maritimes, 44 km away from the city of Nice (about 340000 inhabitants).
