Description:
The most energy-demanding buildings in the alpine area are built or renovated following architectural styles and technologies imported from other places poorly adapted to the local constraints and peculiarities. Consequently, they rarely use appropriate materials and technologies, which leads to a huge waste of energy and uncontrolled production of greenhouse gases, as well as a striking contrast in comparison with the traditional architecture.
The ALPêco project intends to promote a transnational task force that includes national and regional decision maker, architects, SMEs voted to innovation and research centres that can actually deal with these issues.

Main objectives:
The ALPêco project intends to develop a tools platform providing public and private decision makers an effective instrument to simultaneously manage and control energy aspects as well as environmental, economic, financing and social ones. Hence, they will be able to promote new policies based on low environmental impact solutions for a more sustainable and profitable development, fostering projects with a faster ROI. The proposed tools would be the future core of the eco-label ALPêco for large but low energy/GHG buildings in the alpine area.
