The aims
Project summary
Putting down its roots into the road traced by the strategic call of the previous programming period and its project, AlpCheck 2 aims at creating a road transport model covering the whole Alpine area that supports the public decision makers by providing free on line access to a vast set of traffic data: actual data and simulated data concerning a set of future scenarios will be interactively accessible. Environmental data (atmospheric and noise emissions, money value of impacts) will also be available. Innovative technologies, solutions and methodologies will be elaborated, tested and evaluated as well. The project has a strong transnational character both for exploiting synergies with other projects and for seeking the necessary institutional support. An innovative transport planning tool, new evaluation methodologies and new technologies will be delivered to the Alpine Community, which are expected to contribute to improve competitiveness and quality of life of Alpine territories.
Status
Alpcheck2 has just entered into its implementation stage, which indeed had its official start with the Kick-Off meeting organised on the 27th November 2009 in Venice. The event, with the participation of all the Project Partners and already identified Observers as well as the Programme’s Authorities, had a relevant impact thanks to the presence of high level representatives of the Veneto Region (LP) and of the Venice Port Authority which hosted the event and was one of the most important partners in the previous experience (implementing and running the Alpcheck Information System). Most of the planned project actions have started according to the official time schedule. In particular, the efforts have been oriented, on the one hand to consolidate the partnership and on the other to define tasks, objectives and outputs/results in a much more detailed way than it was possible in the preparatory stage.
Implemented activities and (interim) results
After the official start of the project with the Kick-Off meeting, in this reporting period all the Partners, grouped by work package, have started discussing about methods, procedures, activities and technologies to be defined and implemented along Project’s life. This initial work, developed under the co-ordination of the Lead Partner, has allowed to achieve detailed time schedules at work package level. To ease the achievements of these goals, the Lead Partner has developed and shared with the Partnership two management tools (the Time Schedule and the Facts Sheet). Another relevant result has been the consolidation of the Partnership, which has been achieved also though its full involvement in the clear definition of respective roles Finally, a draft of the Communication and Dissemination Plan and a first proposal for the logo have been realized.
Outlook
At the beginning of next reporting period the first Steering Technical Committee will take place in Venice, important documents will be finalised and approved (as the Communication and Dissemination Plan) and the Transnational Platform Panel established achieving the first Project milestone. Furthermore, rules of procedure of the Panel will be formalized and the most significant technical activities will be fully defined under the methodological profile.
