Interreg programmes have expressed their increasing interest to investigate more what is the specific role of Interreg in addressing the current migration challenges. On 1st February 2017, 60 persons from relevant bodies of the European Commission and stakeholders gathered at a network meeting in Brussels to get deeper information on policy agenda developments and specific thematic knowledge about migration issues. PlurAlps was invited to this meeting to contribute with views from the first Alpine Space Interreg project on this issue.

The meeting provided specific thematic knowledge about migration issues, as well as answers to the main expectations and questions raised by programmes at previous meetings. Robert Moosbrugger from Regional Development Vorarlberg presented the PlurAlps project. “Our presentation generated a lively interest as PlurAlps is the first Alpine Space Interreg project to actively address migration issues”, says Moosbrugger.
