Have you ever experienced stress at work? Well, you can easily imagine that seasonal workers also do. A French project from Les Belleville was implemented to support the everyday life of ski resort workers, providing responses to psychosocial risks they may experience. Study class, visits to the local Espace Saisonnier, shuttle busses, availability to occupy empty apartments in the nearby town. Being more integrated can help to feel welcomed!
Isolated mountain areas, cost of living, traffic problems, snow, cold temperatures and work load do not make seasonal jobs easy in the Alps. Indeed, many seasonal workers and managers talk about work stress during the high seasons.
What solutions can be implemented?
Study class to learn a new foreign language, visits to the local Espace Saisonnier to be informed about the local area, shuttle busses to travel around, availability to occupy empty apartments in the nearby town. In short, more integration in the local life!
The objective of the project is to limit psychosocial occupational risks of seasonal workers and employers. Three years have been planned to develop different actions. During the first year the focus had been set on sharing experiences of what already exists as well as the dissemination of the project and the consideration of needs. The activities of the second year dealt with putting in place the actions of concrete preventions / trainings, mobilization of companies / seasonal workers by a effective communication strategy. Finally, during the last year concrete actions had been continued and evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively.
- restriction of professional psycho-social risks of seasonal workers and employers
- sharing experiences of what already exists as well as the dissemination of the project and the consideration of the needs
