The Sustainable Transport Forum, the expert group on alternative fuels assisting the European Commission, has issued new recommendations to provide local authorities advice on procuring and promoting charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Those are particularly relevant and important for cities or region that are aiming at enlarging their low-carbon mobility offer.

Procurement is still a challenge for cities that want to move forward in the electrification of mobility, as is involved a variety of stakeholders and a detailed planning. While metropoles have a higher chance of mobilizing enough resources to do so, smaller municipalities often face capacity problems. All those challenges are addressed in the guidelines for procurement by the STF, featuring also examples from different European cities. A handbook summarizing the findings has also been published.
