Development Agency for Upper Gorenjska
The Development Agency for Upper Gorenjska (Razvojna agencija Zgornje Gorenjske, SI) is a public institute established in year 2000. The institute operates mainly in the area of 7 municipalities of Upper Gorenjska in north-western Slovenia. Its mission is to improve the welfare of people living in these areas through development activities.
The purposes of the institute are:
- to organize constant coordination and professional guidance as well as regional, local and community development programmes;
to develop new programmes, instruments and services for the promotion of development.
The yearly Development Agency of Upper Gorenjska successfully executes approx. 25 projects on a local, regional or international level in the fields that it covers (human resources, economy, tourism, rural development and environment). The agency takes part in the Regional development agency for Gorenjska, which is a member of national Association of Regional Development Agencies. Through the association, initiatives for policies and development strategies are given on the regional and national level. The agency participated in the FLU-LED transnational project, where the intangible heritage of dialects in Slovenia and Austria was collected. The agency has implemented a regional project of collecting traditional house names as a part of oral heritage. Within the LEADER programme the agency also led a project on preservation of alpine pastures and cooperated in a project on folklore and dialect of the Rateče village. Development Agency for Upper Gorenjska implements also projects on regional food self-sufficiency and preservation of old varieties of plants.
Within AlpFoodway project, the Development Agency for Upper Gorenjska carries out an inventory of Alpine food Intangible Cultural Heritage on regional level and provides one pilot action in Slovenia, held in the pristine village of Rateče.
