Strategic tools towards a sustainable use of biomass for low carbon domestic heating

Strategic tools towards a sustainable use of biomass for low carbon domestic heating

Renewable energy in the form of biomass is becoming increasingly important as countries realize it offers significant possibilities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions due to their immense potential to replace fossil fuels in energy production. But despite being a valuable alternative to finite fossil fuels, the question remains: when does biomass really become the renewable source, that is good for human kind and nature?

In the last 3 years BB-CLEAN project was developing tools and resources for improving smart and sustainable use of biomass in Alpine regions, spreading, in the meanwhile, a greater awareness on the effects biomass burning can have on health and environment. On BB-CLEAN's final conference, that was held on 12th of April 2021, we have summarized our findings, our efforts and the results.
