Winner: Municipality of Bludesch in recognition of the regional timber construction “Campus for children and education“ Bludesch, Vorarlberg (Austria)

The campus for children and education is the biggest infrastructure project of the municipality of Bludesch by now. It includes the primary school, kindergarten, childcare, library, parent counselling, family centre and a kitchen that provides meals for all institutions. A comprehensive service centre for childcare for children between 18 months and 10 years is created.
For the construction, about 900.000 cubic metres of round wood (40 per cent silver fir, 60 per cent spruce) have been cut in the municipality’s own forest and in other local forests and are used for the supporting framework and facade. The sawmill and the timber construction company are located at approximately 20 kilometres from the municipality. The municipality and the participating companies are the first ones in Vorarlberg to obtain the quality label for construction with regional wood “Holz von Hier”.
