Near-surface Geothermal Resources in the Territory of the Alpine Space

Parc des Bauges

The Parc Naturel des Bauges (PNR) is located in the northern western Alps of France, both on Savoie and Haute-Savoie Departments. It encompasses 64 local communes that make up about 70,000 inhabitants.

The PNR territory covers diverse situations, from rural communes located in PNR heart to urban and residential areas on PNR outer edges with stronger links to the major agglomerations of Chambéry and Annecy. Along with these two agglomerations the PNR is committed in a TEPOS (positive energy territory) process aiming a local production of renewable energy greater than the energy consumption by 2050.

From 2016 to 2018 the PNR is updating its chart, resulting in a cartography of renewable energy resources produced in 2017. The methodological development of the GRETA project could be used as input to this process.
