On 13 July, a seminar was held at Milan’s Politecnico as the occasion to present the students’ projects on the transformation of the former Italcementi site in Borgo San Dalmazzo. The seminar followed an intensive 2-weeks design workshop, in which four interdisciplinary teams of Architecture and Spatial Planning students elaborated their ideas for the site reactivation, based on the impressions of the site visit (27 June) and the exchange with local stakeholders about regional development challenges.

Site visit in Borgo San Dalmazzo (IT Pilot)
On 27-28 June the trAILs team met in Borgo San Dalmazzo for the site visit on the Italian pilot site. On the first day, the project team guided by Gianpaolo Beretta, the Mayor of Borgo San Dalmazzo, and Daniela Risso, a local expert and planner, explored by foot the Italcementi site surroundings and by bus the Gesso valley.
TUM-students visit at L'Argentière-la-Bessée/La-Roche-de-Rame
On May 15th-18th, the students from the TUM-Chair of Landscape Architecture and Industrial Landscapes, accompanied by Prof. Udo Weilacher, Marcello Modica and Martin Augenstein, visited the former Pechiney aluminium works in L'Argentière-la-Bessée (Briançon, Hautes-Alpes), the French pilot site of trAILs.
Test-design workshop in Eisenerz
On May 6-7-8, the project team met in Eisenerz for the first test-design workshop on the former Münichtal blast furnace site. Being the key activity of Work Package T3 (Test AILs), the workshop aims to develop, together with local and regional stakeholders, a vision for the future oft he site. The workshop builds on the previous assessments done by the research partners, as well as on the preparation activities carried on by the regional partner Registered association Styrian Iron Route and the Technical University of Vienna.
