Overview
The manufacturing sector in the Alps is meeting several challenges for its ecological transition, which include decreasing the environmental impact of the production processes and enhance digitalisation. SMEs face a pressing need for transformation to ensure environmental, worker, and societal well-being. RECENTRE addresses this need by developing region-specific models and involving decision-makers. By drafting a green transformation strategy and testing it in SMEs across various countries, RECENTRE provides expertise, technologies, and tools for transforming the manufacturing sector.

RECENTRE Methodology for the manufacturing SMEs green transformation
The methodology adopts the Industry 5.0 concept according to the needs and expectations of the AS manufacturing sector. It provides methods&tools for the green transformation, the up take of advanced technologies (ATs) jointly with the workers' well-being. Additionally, it focuses on "early stage" SMEs investments for circularity and digitalization and provides models and tools for a support system. -
Pilot action A to enhance SMEs transformation
The methodology to support manufacturing 5.0 transformation will be tested in all 8 project areas and 160 transition plans elaborated by all PP with 1:1 actions. The transition plans will focus on the implementation of circularity processes, the up take of advanced technologies and improving workers' skills. -
Pilot action B to trigger SMEs' investments on transformation
The pilot will test the support system for the assistance provided to 40 SMEs with advice and assess SMEs investment plans, according to the transition plans elaborated, focusing on the up take of advanced technologies, the circularity processes or products and the workers' resilience to the twin transition. The 40 SMEs will be selected with a transnational open call for proposals monitored by the Advisory Board and the final ranking list will be approved by the Steering Committee. -
Guideline to develop SMEs green transition plans
The methodology to support the Alpine Manufacturing transformation aims at providing methods and tools to assess SMEs needs and elaborate the transition plans, that are considering the up take of advanced technologies, the implementation of circularity product and processes and the set of actions to support workers' resilience to the twin transition. Partners and stakeholders will uptake it with the signature of LoI. -
Support system with a guideline for manufacturing SMEs transformation
The support system is the set of actions carried out by public and private actors to provide technical assistance to the SMEs for their transformation. It consists of technical and specialist support provided to the SMEs to assess the sustainability and feasibility of the investments or the first actions for twin transition and the upgrade of workers' skills. The support system will be up take with the signature of LoI by PPs, Regional& authorities in charge of supporting innovation, etc. -
RECENTRE STRATEGY
RECENTRE Strategy aims to enhance the transformation of the manufacturing sector based on Industry 5.0. The strategy includes: a) scenarios to transform the manufacturing sector based on Industry5.0 principles; b) trends concerning the (public) support systems for the industrial transformation; b) trends for new public services addressed to SMEs and their transition; C) training paths and vocational trends to support the workers' resilience to the twin transition and their skills upgrade D.3.2.1 -
RECENTRE ACTION PLAN
RECENTRE Action Plan aims at implementing the Strategy and will be endorsed (LoI signed) by PPs and Observers. Actions will start before the end of the project and will be addressed a) to create a permanent network to support the manufacturing transformation; b) organization and maintenance of the network; c) enlargement of the network beyond the RECENTRE areas; d) collaborations for new projects addressed to the manufacturing sector. D.3.3.1

________________________________________
We actively empower companies across the Alpine region to plan and realise ambitious green, digital and human‑centric transformation projects regarding Industry 5.0. By registering and working with us on a project outline, participants benefit from hands‑on expert guidance, proven methodologies, and the opportunity to access dedicated financial support. This is a unique chance to turn innovative transformation ideas into concrete, actionable plans with professional backing and EU co‑funding support.
Target groups
SMEs (small and medium-sized companies) are the main focus of RECENTRE, but mid-caps and larger enterprises active in mechatronics and automation, automotive, and bioeconomy within the Alpine region are also welcome to participate. Companies can either apply directly or act as expert partners supporting transformation projects in others (see below).
Are you an expert?
RECENTRE also welcomes companies that act as experts in transformation processes toward industry 5.0. These expert companies can register through the expression of interest form to become part of the RECENTRE expert pool. They may later be matched with SMEs, mid-caps, or larger companies that have identified transformation needs. The collaboration between experts and companies with transformation projects can also benefit from RECENTRE’s support – including access to consultancy services and financial assistance under the same conditions.
Why Participate?
Receive expert guidance to identify your specific transformation needs towards Industry 5.0
Develop a detailed, tailor-made transition plan for sustainable, digital, and human-centric advancements
Receive consultancy services and the option to receive support valued at up to 10,000€ for those services
How Does it Work?
Through RECENTRE's structured system, the steps are as follows:
1. Expression of Interest: Companies of all sizes, including SMEs, mid-caps, and larger enterprises, submit their general contact details and eligibility information using the Expression of Interest Form provided on this website. Submitting a project idea at this stage is optional, as it can also be developed later together with the regional RECENTRE partner.
2. One-on-One Meeting: The regional RECENTRE partner arranges an online or on-site meeting to develop a concise transition plan outlining the company’s transformation goals. This plan provides a clear overview for comparison
3. Transition Plan Submission & Evaluation: The developed transition plans are submitted and evaluated against predefined criteria.
4. Selection: The international advisory board and RECENTRE team review and select the 50 most promising transition plans (five plans per project region).
5. Financial Support: Selected companies receive support to fund detailed consultancy with a service value of up to €10,000; aimed at structural and financial realization of their transformation project.
6. Final Reporting: Participating companies submit a final report documenting the consultancy process, outcomes, and the use of the funds provided.
