Between May 12 and 14, the Interreg Alpine Space programme will mark its 25th anniversary in Salzburg—a milestone celebrating a quarter-century of transnational cooperation and innovation across the Alpine region.
Titled “Cooperation, Legacy and Change: 25 Years of Interreg Alpine Space“, the event reflects on past accomplishments while also looking ahead to future opportunities. A highlight of the celebration will take place on May 13, featuring a series of dynamic breakout sessions designed to explore the critical issues shaping the region’s future.
Running in parallel from 10:00 to 11:15, each of the four breakout session combines a keynote speech with interactive formats such as panels, quizzes, and workshops to foster engagement and dialogue.
To offer a glimpse into what each session will entail, our speakers have shared short video previews. The four sessions include:
- Elevating Women, Adapting the Alps: A Gendered Perspective on Climate Change
Featuring keynote speaker Dr. Séverin Duc, historian, consultant, and author. This session will continue with a panel discussion featuring women in leadership roles within Alpine cooperation.
- The Alps in Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities
Presented by meteorologist and TV presenter Sebastian Weber. After the keynote, participants can test their knowledge in a fun, informative climate quiz—winners will receive prizes.
- Leveraging AI to Protect and Preserve the Alpine Ecosystem
Led by Sarah Stemmler, AI expert and co-founder of synsugar GmbH. The session includes a hands-on workshop exploring how artificial intelligence can be applied to sustainability projects in the Alpine region.
- Next Steps for Circular Economy in the Alps
With Sonja Eser, circular economy expert and lecturer. Following her talk, attendees will engage in a workshop on circular lifestyles and practical strategies for sustainable living.
