HumanFactor’s team celebrates 25 Years of Interreg Alpine Space in Salzburg

May 20, 2025

Last week, part of the HumanFactor project team traveled to Salzburg to take part in the 25th anniversary celebration of the Interreg Alpine Space programme.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with partners from all across the Alpine region and exchange ideas on the future of sustainable development in our mountains.

Overall, the plenaries, workshop sessions and bilateral discussions in Salzburg highlighted again the high relevance of the human factor and the fact that sustainability transitions are indeed all about people. The Interreg Alpine Space programme has supported a broad range of wonderful projects and initiatives, many of which have developed successful pilots and good practices. The discussions made clear that the roll-out of these initiatives however requires a finetuning to local contexts – which is only possible if local stakeholders, multipliers and change agents are involved. Understanding their specific needs as well as barriers to act is thus crucial element also for the Alpine Space programme to achieve broader impact. With our project HumanFactor we want to support stakeholders in better understanding the human factor and thus in creating larger impact.

We were thrilled to see so much interest in our project, which puts the human factor at the heart of sustainable transitions—within the frameworks of EUSALP and the Alpine Convention.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and shared their insights and enthusiasm.

The journey is just beginning! Our next activities are coming soon—and maybe to a place near you.
