Insights from the second X-RISK-CC stakeholder meeting in the Arly watershed

Feb 4, 2025

“Everyone acknowledges that extreme events will become more frequent, so we must prepare, communicate effectively, and share local knowledge to raise awareness of risks,” concluded a participant of the second X-RISK-CC meeting, held by PARN and AURA-EE on November 15 in Ugine.
Based on a probable 2040 climate scenario co-developed with risk management stakeholders and local authorities from the Arly watershed, participants discussed improving natural risk prevention and crisis management phases. They also explored adaptation actions for more frequent extreme weather events, such as increased crisis management training, better flood zone definitions, controlling urban sprawl, and restoring natural spaces. These ideas will complement ongoing work by the Syndicat mixte du bassin versant de l’Arly (SMBVA) on integrated natural risk management.
