Inspiring insights and promising approaches at “Circular Economy in an Urban Context – Shaping the Future Together”

Dec 8, 2025

How do we manage the transition towards a circular economy in our cities?

The answer lies in municipal economic cooperation, innovation, and transformative pilot projects – which is precisely what we discussed November 25, during our online event “Circular Economy in an Urban Context – Shaping the Future Together”, which took place as part of the EU project RE-INCITE.

Inspiring insights by Carole Tornay

The insights shared by our speakers were particularly inspiring:

🎤 Carole Tornay, Managing Director of BaselCircular,
🎤 Dr. Christian Moser, Vice president of Wirtschaftskammer Niederösterreich (WKNÖ) and Managing Director of Moser East & West Holding GmbH

who showed how circular economy can work in practice and who uncovered hidden potential.

We discussed how RE-INCITE supports cities and municipalities in building circular value chains: with clear roadmaps, concrete pilot projects and new ways of working together. From recycling solutions and re-use systems to the use of byproducts – there already are a lot of promising approaches on which we can build.

Alexandra Wolf presents RE-INCITE

The insights into Europe were also very exciting:

Basel is demonstrating how a circular economic ecosystem can be created with a strong public-private network.

Ljubljana is rethinking furniture.
Stuttgart is making

It became clear: the right time to act is now. The existing numbers show how large the gap still is and how much we can achieve by working together, enabled by the right regulatory framework, voluntary commitment and strong networks.

Our conclusion:
Circular economy is not an abstract concept for the future. It emerges where people from business, politics, administration, and science come together and take action.
👉 Together, we are shaping the transition from a linear to a circular economy.
