MARGIN Project Showcased at CAIC Conference in Cologne 09-11.07.2025

Jul 16, 2025

The MARGIN project was featured at this year’s CAIC Conference, held from 9–11 July 2025 in Cologne, Germany. Organized by project partner Climate Alliance, the conference brought together experts and decision-makers from across Germany to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable climate and infrastructure development.
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the City of Munich proudly represented the project. On 10 July, Cristina Astudillo and Dr. Markus Schmid delivered an insightful presentation, “Your City’s Blueprint for Sustainable Groundwater Management.” Their session drew attention to innovative strategies for strengthening urban groundwater resilience—an essential step in preparing cities for future climate challenges.
Beyond the presentations, the MARGIN team connected with participants in fun and interactive ways. At the Learn & Share booth, an educational groundwater quiz challenged visitors to test their knowledge, sparking lively conversations and raising awareness about this critical, yet often overlooked, resource. Through these activities, the team effectively advertised the project’s core mission: bringing the “Spongy City” concept to life in Munich with innovative, climate-adaptive, and resilient groundwater management strategies.
