Report on past and future (compound) hazards in the pilot areas

Jul 15, 2025

The report provides an in-depth analysis of historical and projected climate-related hazards in Alpine pilot areas as part of the X-RISK-CC project. It introduces the concept of sequential impact chains to illustrate how extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods, and storms, can trigger complex, compound, and cascading effects. Through case studies from Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy, and France, the report highlights region-specific hazard dynamics and their implications for local communities. The findings support risk managers and policymakers in identifying evolving vulnerabilities and planning climate adaptation strategies tailored to Alpine environments.
