On 13 November 2025, the Technology Centre for Energy (TZE) at the University of Applied Sciences Landshut hosted an expert round table titled “Bioenergy Production and Biodiversity – A Sustainable Concept for the Future?”, organised as part of the DIVERSE project.
The event brought together a diverse group of specialists representing politics, agriculture, bioenergy, environmental protection and biodiversity research. Their common goal: to explore how regional energy production can evolve in harmony with nature conservation, particularly within the Lower Bavaria pilot region and the area surrounding Ruhstorf an der Rott.
Collaborative Dialogue for Practical Solutions
Participants worked in focused thematic groups to analyse key challenges, exchange real-world experiences, and identify strategic opportunities to balance renewable bioenergy production with ecological preservation.
At the discussion tables, experts debated practical measures, possible implementation pathways, and long-term collaborative approaches that could strengthen both regional sustainability and environmental resilience.
The outcomes represent a concrete step forward in designing bioenergy models that respect biodiversity criteria, support local development, and align with European sustainability objectives.
