As part of the Sustainable Development Laboratory 2025 organized by ANCI Lombardia (the regional branch of the Association of Italian Municipalities), Lombardy Foundation for Environment took part by promoting the Interreg Alpine Space ALPHA project.
The Sustainability Laboratory initiative was created to highlight experiences and best practices concerning sustainable development and innovation in cities and territories, with a focus on the organizational and managerial models of local services.
The meeting was an opportunity to present the ALPHA project, which aims to contribute to the reduction of climate-altering emissions and to increase energy efficiency through the use of advanced fifth-generation district heating and cooling networks in Alpine areas.
Participants were also invited to join the establishment of local working groups, aimed at developing heating and cooling profiles for pilot sites. These sites, conceived as experimental areas, will serve to identify and test the most suitable solutions for advancing towards fifth-generation energy systems (5GDHC) in different local contexts, including the Lombardy region.
