Description
On 25 June 2026, Lucerne will host the Public Final Review of Circular Time Lab, the Swiss pilot action within the BAUHALPS project. The event will showcase three real-life wooden structures designed and built according to circular economy principles, demonstrating how local materials, craftsmanship and collaborative design can contribute to a more sustainable built environment.

The pilot brings together architecture students, researchers, engineers and apprentices from regional timber companies to explore new approaches to circular construction. Developed within the Bachelor of Architecture programme at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), the structures serve as practical examples of how the principles of the New European Bauhaus can be translated into tangible interventions in public space.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit three project locations across Lucerne and Emmenbrücke, engage with designers and experts, and discuss the future of circular timber construction in the Alpine region.

A Collaboration Between Education, Research and Industry

Circular Time Lab brings together researchers from the Competence Centre for Typology and Planning in Architecture (CCTP), architecture students, engineers and four regional timber construction companies. A distinctive feature of the project is the active involvement of apprentices from the third and fourth year of vocational training, creating a valuable exchange between education and professional practice.

The structures were designed and built through collaboration with Schaerholzbau, Haupt Holz Kultur, Dubach Holzbau and Erni Holzbau, supported by numerous partners from the fields of timber construction, engineering and architecture.

We Look Forward to Welcoming You

If you are interested in circular construction, timber as a sustainable building material, and innovative models of collaboration between education, industry and local communities, we invite you to join us in Lucerne and discover the outcomes of the Swiss BAUHALPS pilot.

Join us on 25 June 2026 and explore how circular thinking, local materials and collaborative innovation can shape the future of construction in the Alpine region.
