Woolshed is officially launching its series of Design Marathons with an open online event on 27 January 2026, from 10:00 to 12:30 CET. The meeting marks the start of a transnational journey that will unfold across Alpine territories throughout 2026, bringing together designers, practitioners, researchers, innovators and policymakers around new uses and value chains for Alpine wool.
The event will introduce the Woolshed project and its broader vision, including the recently completed Wool Atlas, and will set the scene for the Design Marathons by presenting their objectives, formats and thematic directions. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from invited experts, discover the different marathon approaches proposed by project partners, and understand how to get involved as contributors, experts or participants.
The programme will open with a concise overview of Woolshed and its knowledge base, followed by two keynote contributions exploring future-oriented perspectives on wool. After a short break, the focus will shift to the Design Marathons themselves: partners will present the different models and challenges that will be explored across territories, ranging from experimental wool mixes and challenge-driven open innovation to digital craft, design challenges and emerging processing practices.
The final part of the event will explain the concrete ways to engage with Woolshed activities, including participation in the Design Marathons and involvement in the Woolshed Working Groups, and will also introduce the upcoming DUNE Open Call.
The event is open to all interested stakeholders and participation is free of charge.
