“DigithON: Turn ON Digital Transformation” took place on December 10th: starting with an opening conference session from 9:00 to 10:30, the international project event went on with plenty of B2B and B2C meetings between companies and digital providers taking place directly on the B2Match platform.

The international event represented a great opportunity for SMEs’ in the Alpine Space interested in innovative solutions for their production process: inspired by a keynote speech dealing with best practices from textile and rubber compounding, SMEs had the possibility to schedule appointments (in virtual rooms) with potential new business partners. Solution providers, digital companies and experts of the field also attended the event, providing their consultations and solutions through the B2Match networking platform that was set up.
During the opening morning conference, the speakers discussed about the development and implementation of new processes and strategies of production through digitalisation and highlighted the necessity of developing and implementing new ICT products, processes and solutions.
The meeting was opened by a welcome speech delivered by Alessandro Marino, the Secretary General of ITALCAM - the Italian-German Chamber of Commerce based in Munich and Stuttgart, responsible for the organization of the event. In his speech, Mr. Marino stressed the important impact that digitalization can have on the European economy, especially as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic: today more than ever, digitalization and automation are an essential aspect of every business.
Maria Sole D'Orazio, Project Manager of Veneto Innovazione and Lead Partner of the project, spoke along the same lines and took the opportunity to explain the benefits and support that BE-READI ALPS partners can offer to mature companies in the Alpine region that have been affected by the pandemic and want to renew themselves. In fact, the main objective of BE-READI ALPS is to support mature SMEs to overcome their difficulties and remain competitive in an ever-changing market. Ms. D'Orazio said that digitization is the key to achieving these goals and that digital suppliers can play a very important role in the success of any company.
Representing the Cluster for Mechatronics and Automation, Benedikt Sykora presented the activities and services offered by the Bavarian cluster, which for years has included companies that are emblematic of German automation and digitization. Afterwards, Mr. Sykora mentioned some of the international projects in which the cluster is involved and the webinars and seminars they organize in the field of digitization, thus demonstrating the knowledge the Bavarian cluster has on digitization.
Highlight of the event was certainly the keynote speech, held by Maximilian Backenstos, CEO of DatenBerg, who discussed digital transformation in production: concrete examples from success stories of companies active in the field of textile and rubber compounding have been the basis around which to build a speech that has touched several important points for many companies in the same conditions. In particular, Maximilian dwelt at length on how NOT to lose the "human" side of work in a world that must automate and digitize to remain competitive. His interesting talk included examples and tips on how digitization can be used in this industry to achieve more profitable results.
ITALCAM then kicked off the online meeting sessions on the platform: 45 innovative and 20 mature companies across the Alps took turns in more than 50 1:1 virtual meetings throughout the rest of the day. About 25 representatives from our BE-READI Points also set up appointments with companies in their area to push them to continue the journey that many of them started with BE-READI ALPS.
In conclusion, this successful event was just the first in the series of DigithONs planned already for 2021. Don't miss the next event!
