On 22 October 2025, the workshop “Full Circle: From Lessons Learned to Future Possibilities – Circular Economy and Interreg” took place at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg. The event was organised by the Interact Programme in cooperation with the Austrian-Liechtenstein EUSALP Co-Presidency, as part of a series of meetings serving as a platform for the Interreg community to exchange experiences and insights on key policy objectives.
Our project was among the initiatives presented during the event. The workshop focused on how European territorial cooperation contributes to a cleaner, more competitive, and more circular European economy. Our Lead Partner attended the event and presented BAUHALPS in a PechaKucha format, highlighting the project’s main goals, activities, and first results.
The presentation showcased how BAUHALPS connects research, educational and cultural institutions from across the Alpine region – including the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland), MAO – Museum of Architecture and Design (Slovenia), Wood Forum Allgäu (Germany), and the Ca’ Foscari University Foundation (Italy). Together, we explore how heritage, local knowledge, sustainable materials, and artistic-architectural approaches can contribute to more circular and sustainable building practices in the Alpine area.
Several inspiring examples were presented, such as the SMACH Biennale of Land Art, Station4Transformation residencies on the theme of water, and the Italian Cantiere-Evento initiatives – all demonstrating how art, architecture, and nature can merge to test new models of sustainable spatial development.
The second part of the workshop focused on networking and identifying synergies among projects in the fields of construction, food, and textiles. These discussions opened opportunities for new collaborations and partnerships aimed at further supporting Europe’s transition to a circular economy.
The Salzburg event provided a valuable opportunity to promote our BAUHALPS project, exchange knowledge with other Interreg initiatives, and strengthen connections with partners working in the spirit of a Greener Europe and the New European Bauhaus.
