Engaging people to turn urban areas in a more “pollinators friendly” way – News from Slovenia!

Sep 6, 2023

Urban areas are an important habitat for pollinators. This is mainly because they have food sources throughout the whole season (in parks, and gardens), use fewer pesticides, and find a more diverse environment than in an intensive agricultural landscape. With adapted management, we can make cities even friendlier. The later mowing of green areas is also part of this type of effort. Therefore, in the magazine “Slovenian Beekeeper” we presented why late mowing is beneficial and how to approach it.

Thank you to our Slovenian partner Danilo Bevk from Nacionalni inštitut za biologijo for the contribution.
