Tuesday, July 1, 2025 – Hydrogen Days in the Regions, Lyon
The Hydrogen Days in the Regions is the national congress on hydrogen, designed to foster exchanges, create synergies, unite territorial actors, and identify challenges and levers through a rich program of conferences, workshops, and site visits. At this event co-organized by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and France Hydrogène in Lyon, AURA-EE and Tenerrdis led a workshop on “Hydrogen in mountain areas, a solution for specific ecosystems.” The AMETHyST project—which supports hydrogen deployment in mountain regions through funding, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing—was presented during the workshop as a key initiative driving hydrogen solutions adapted to local needs.
Key takeaways included:
• Hydrogen is a promising solution to decarbonize mobility in mountain regions, addressing challenges such as elevation, extreme temperatures, and autonomy.
• Success depends on ecosystem collaboration, aligning strategic and operational actors, and bridging public and private interests beyond administrative borders.
• Project sustainability requires thorough studies, collaboration spaces, decision-making tools, and community acceptance efforts.
• Hydrogen must be integrated into the regional energy mix, supported by experiments, demonstrators, and skill development with adequate resources.
A highlight was the presentation of the hydrogen demonstrator project by the Communauté de Communes Pays d’Évian – Vallée d’Abondance (CCPEVA), which was partly funded by the AMETHyST project. CCPEVA is supported and accompanied by AURA-EE and Tenerrdis, as a pilot territory, within the AMETHyST framework.
Speakers included Nadine Wendling (CCPEVA), Céline Vert (AURA-EE), Jean-Christophe Poirot (ATAWEY), and Max Gantet (Axpo Group).
There’s also a replay available in French language. You can watch it HERE.
