Exhibition of the International Architecture Competition Constructive Alps 2022 – Climate-Friendly Buildings

In 2022, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Contracting Parties to the Alpine Convention, organised the sixth edition of the Constructive Alps International Architecture Competition. The competition contributes to the implementation of the Alpine Climate Action Plan in the building sector. It also supports the renovation of built heritage, the promotion of sustainable construction, and the circular management of land and spatial resources.

Out of 240 completed projects submitted from seven Alpine countries, 31 were shortlisted by the jury. Eleven projects were selected: seven received special recognition and four were awarded the top three prizes along with cash awards. These 11 projects are featured in the exhibition, while the other shortlisted projects can be explored on the Constructive Alps 2022 website.

The architects behind the award-winning buildings placed particular emphasis on natural resources and traditional building practices of the Alpine region. The projects showcase the power of architecture that brings together aesthetics and sustainability, minimizes land use, relies on local building materials, and reduces energy consumption — in some cases even achieving energy self-sufficiency.

This exhibition was reused and presented at our stand at Interreg Alpine Space, as it perfectly complements the themes and objectives of our initiative.
