RE‑INCITE – Midterm Milestones

Mar 13, 2026

RE‑INCITE has entered the second half of its two‑year funding period. A great deal has happened already and with Regio Basiliensis, our consortium has even welcomed a new partner along the way.

Time to pause, reflect, and highlight some milestones we have achieved so far.

1 Cross‑Sectoral Supply Chain Analysis

A detailed cross‑sectoral supply chain analysis has been completed for the four regions: Stuttgart, Heilbronn, Pordenone, and Upper Austria.

By identifying residual material streams suitable for conversion into new raw materials, this analysis provides the foundation for defining the project’s circular value chain pilots and shaping the overall project objectives. A pilot specific strategy for four identified pilots has been developed.

2 Stuttgart Pop‑Up Space & Emerging Network

The Pop‑Up Space in Stuttgart has closed its physical doors, but its impact continues to grow.

What began with rethinking‑stuttgart.de has evolved into a thriving network of innovators, creatives, and sustainability pioneers committed to circular practices and new modes of collaboration. And the momentum is carrying forward:

The exhibition developed within the project has already been showcased twice beyond Stuttgart—at Klimafestival Berlin and INTERGASTRA—reaching diverse audiences and sparking new conversations.

The space was temporary.

The network is here to stay.

3 Regio Basiliensis joins the consortium

With Regio Basiliensis, the RE-INCITE consortium gained a great partner. As the city of Basel serves as a best practice for circular economy within the project, the new partner contributes valuable knowledge and experience in the field. Regio Basiliensis has committed to setting up another pilot and working together on a joint place-based strategy in collaboration with municipalities.

4 Circular Economy in Urban Contexts Event

Circular economy is not just a trend—it is essential for the sustainable development of our cities and regions.

On 25 November 2025, we hosted the online event “Circular Economy in Urban Contexts”, welco

ming representatives from cities, municipalities, and companies.

Together with our speakers and participants, we explored innovative approaches, challenges, and opportunities related to circular processes, value chains, and waste streams.

The event featured practical examples from local and corporate implementation, insights into regional collaboration, and strategic perspectives for shaping a future‑oriented circular economy.

We were delighted to welcome Carole Tornay (Basel Circular) and Christian Moser (Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce) as our speakers.

5 COMET Pilot: Revalorizing Metal Waste

One of the pilots identified through the Value Chain Analysis focuses on the revalorization of waste from metalworking companies.

Our Italian partner COMET is collaborating with the municipality of Pordenone to bring this pilot to life through a joint art competition centered on artworks created from metal scrap.

In January and February 2026, COMET began visiting participating companies and documenting the metal waste that will later be offered to the selected artists. These images will support the artists in choosing the materials that best suit their creative concepts. The next steps include selecting the artists, coordinating material collection, and enabling the creation of captivating artworks.

The progress achieved so far shows that RE‑INCITE is gaining momentum. We are expanding our knowledge base, strengthening our partnerships, and we are actively working on amplifying the project’s impact. With each milestone, we deepen our understanding, test practical solutions, and foster collaboration across regions, companies, and municipalities.

As we move further into the second half of the project, we will continue to work on the implementation of our pilot initiatives and develop a joint circular economy strategy with implementation roadmaps for four municipalities.

The journey continues.

And we are excited to move forward together.
