Treasure Hunt in the Venetian Plain

Aug 4, 2025

On 15 July 2025, the municipality of Rubano, located in the province of Padova, hosted a public event as part of the BAUHALPS pilot activities. Organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Padova in collaboration with Venicepromex and UniSMART, the event invited participants to explore the local identity of the Venetian plain through the lens of sustainable and circular construction.

The program began with a guided visit to a recently completed building in Rubano, designed using bioclimatic and bio-based architecture principles. Participants then walked to the Ethnographic Park of Rubano, where they toured a traditional farmhouse and learned about historical building techniques and their relevance for modern circular design.

The initiative brought together technical insight, cultural heritage, and public engagement – all in line with the New European Bauhaus values of sustainability, beauty, and social inclusion. The event concluded with a networking aperitif, encouraging informal exchange between experts, locals, and stakeholders.

This pilot action demonstrates how small towns can contribute meaningfully to climate-conscious transformation in the Alpine Space by reconnecting with local materials, history, and community-driven planning.
