Mar 14, 2025

As a University of Applied Science, Hochschule Karlsruhe (HKA) is in close contact with practitioners and implementing authorities. In recent years, HKA has achieved top ranking positions in the German academic world of Universities of Applied Sciences. The involved research group has a long-term experience in studying interactions between hydraulics, sediments and river ecology and lead/participate in several international and national committees to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between science and practice.

HKA role within Waterwise will be cross-sectional, as they will play an important part developing field-based solutions to collect missing data at low costs. Crowdsourcing using photogrammetric gauging stations and the development and testing of low-cost sensors to monitor continuously water-related parameters belong to the main activities of HKA. In addition, HKA will participate in the stakeholders’ meetings providing guidance on how to use and install low-cost sensor systems in all pilot areas and will also be present in the final governance workshop.
