X-RISK-CC Video 4: Strengthening Alpine Risk Management for Future Climate

Jun 12, 2025

The final video in the X-RISK-CC series highlights the project’s efforts to improve risk management across the Alpine region by focusing on long-term, transnational solutions. As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of natural hazards, coordinated and forward-looking responses are becoming essential.
To address this challenge, the X-RISK-CC project is developing cross-border policy recommendations that target the most urgent risks and fill critical gaps identified throughout the project. These recommendations span the entire risk management cycle—from prevention and preparedness to response, recovery, and learning—and are designed to support decision-making at multiple levels of governance and across sectors.
In addition to policy work, the project is producing a digital sourcebook—a practical repository of tools, data, and methodologies developed in the pilot areas. This resource will help stakeholders in other Alpine regions adapt and replicate successful strategies.
To promote implementation, the project team is engaging with key transnational networks and platforms, including the EUSALP Action Group 8, the Alpine Climate Board, and the CAPA knowledge platform. These collaborations ensure that knowledge is shared widely and that practical guidance reaches local authorities, risk managers, and policymakers.
Through this integrated and collaborative approach, X-RISK-CC contributes to building more resilient Alpine communities prepared to face the challenges of a changing climate.
