Description
Our Slovenian partner, the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO), in cooperation with the Centre for Creativity (CzK) and Technology Park Ljubljana (TPLJ), will host a BAUHALPS Local Info Day and interactive stakeholder workshop on 18 June 2026 at Fužine Castle in Ljubljana.

The event is part of the BAUHALPS pilot activities, which promote circular economy approaches in the Alpine region based on the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). Its main objective is to engage public institutions, local communities, educational organisations, experts and other stakeholders in shaping the future direction of the Slovenian pilot.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to gather external perspectives and identify key needs that will directly contribute to the development of the pilot brief, including programme requirements, priority areas and evaluation criteria. The collected insights will also serve as the basis for preparing development scenarios that take into account the specific heritage constraints and opportunities of Fužine Castle.

It is important to note that the event is not intended to present a final project or renovation plan. At this stage, the pilot focuses on feasibility assessment and scenario development. Through stakeholder engagement, needs mapping and collaborative discussions, the partners aim to build a solid foundation for future decisions, further feasibility studies and potential funding applications.

Special attention will be given to three key development topics. Participants will discuss the future relationship between MAO and Fužine Castle, possibilities for extending the museum’s permanent exhibition beyond its current walls, and opportunities for activating and repurposing the castle’s attic space. The ideas and recommendations gathered during the workshop will be incorporated into the pilot brief and future development scenarios.

This participatory approach reflects one of the core principles of BAUHALPS: involving stakeholders at an early stage of planning in order to develop sustainable, inclusive and high-quality solutions for Alpine communities and heritage sites.
