✨ AlpTextyles Workshop in Milan 2025
“Una Montagna Indosso”
Living Heritage e Innovazione delle pratiche tessili delle Alpi

📍 October 30, 2025
Milan, Italy

The Workshop is conceived and organized by project partner Regione Lombardia as an opportunity to explore, apply, and innovate Alpine textile practices, bridging Living Heritage and contemporary design.

The workshop is part of the UNESCO list of events within the Second International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, highlighting the importance of preserving and transmitting traditional knowledge.

Key topics include:
🤝 Participatory governance, cooperation, and community
🐑 Cultural transhumance and engagement
🧵 Transmission of traditional textile knowledge – Alpine Icon Summer School
📜 Research on legal frameworks and ethical codes
📈 Business plans, organizational models, and scenarios for valorizing Bergamasca wool

The workshop also showcases UMID – Una Montagna Indosso, the capsule collection led by Francesco Ferrero who utilizes a hand-woven fabric from Tessitura di Valposchiavo especially created for AlpTextyles — paying homage to generations of mountain practices and exploring how vernacular knowledge and traditional techniques can meet new ways of thinking and making, reactivating wool as both material and cultural resource.
