From 9 to 11 June, Brussels became the heart of Europe’s energy conversation. The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026 brought together policymakers, innovators and citizens around a shared goal: building a clean, secure and competitive Energy Union.
This year, Interreg Alpine Space was part of a joint stand alongside 13 other Interreg programmes and projects. It was an opportunity to show what transnational cooperation looks like in practice, and why it matters for Europe’s energy future.
At the stand, we showcased the project AMETHyST, one of our flagship energy projects. AMETHyST spent three years building the foundations for green hydrogen ecosystems across six Alpine pilot territories, working with local authorities in five countries to develop the tools, guidelines and policy frameworks needed to bring hydrogen solutions to scale. Its work demonstrates something simple but essential: the energy transition cannot happen in isolation. It requires knowledge-sharing, coordination across borders, and the kind of long-term commitment that Interreg cooperation makes possible.
Thank you to Interact for organising and coordinating the stand, and to all the programmes collaborating.
