CIRIDD Showcases Circular Construction and New European Bauhaus Principles in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Oct 30, 2025

As part of the Interreg Alpine Space project BAUHALPS – Circular Construction in the Alpine Space, our French partner CIRIDD organised a webinar on 28 October 2025 dedicated to sharing experiences from exemplary building projects in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The online event brought together experts, public organisations and practitioners working at the intersection of circular economy, sustainable construction and the New European Bauhaus (NEB). Participants explored practical examples demonstrating how circular building approaches can contribute to more sustainable, inclusive and attractive communities.

The webinar featured contributions from three key organisations:

  1. CEREMA presented two projects awarded the 2EC (Circular Economy Commitment) label: the KI project in Lyon Part-Dieu and the Osterode project in Rillieux-la-Pape. Both initiatives illustrate how circular economy principles can be integrated into urban development and construction projects.
  2. Architecture4Future showcased the Grünbox project in Vienne, winner of the Green Solution Awards 2025 and the Vienne-Condrieu Climate Award 2024. The project demonstrates innovative low-carbon construction approaches that combine sustainability, affordability and community-oriented design.
  3. EPORA presented the revitalisation project of Saint-Romain-le-Puy, highlighting the transformation of underused spaces and the regeneration of local communities through sustainable planning and land reuse strategies.

The webinar was part of a broader series of BAUHALPS activities organised by CIRIDD throughout 2025 to promote the principles of the New European Bauhaus in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Together with the Regional Building Meeting and the first BAUHALPS webinar on the application of NEB principles in the Alpine Space, the event contributed to strengthening dialogue among public authorities, construction professionals, researchers and local stakeholders.

By sharing concrete examples and lessons learned, CIRIDD helped demonstrate how circular construction and New European Bauhaus values can be translated into real projects that create environmental, social and economic benefits for Alpine communities.
