GOVQoL at Forum Alpinum 2026 in Aosta

Jun 2, 2026

GOVQoL was presented during a parallel session of the Forum Alpinum 2026, entitled “Alpine communities and territories in a time of glacier loss and climate change”, in Aosta/Italy, in May 2026.

Cemre Betul Ay, a representative of Polito, the Italian project partner, presented on the topic “Local governance as a means to enhance quality of life in Alpine communities” within the session “Governance of Alpine territorial systems following glacier loss.” She introduced the project and its approach to analysing how quality of life has been addressed within horizontal governance systems, as well as how local governance can contribute to improving quality of life in Alpine communities. She also presented findings from interviews conducted with local communities in selected countries, exploring different understandings of quality of life, factors influencing it, governance approaches, and civil society engagement.

In addition, Pina Klara Petrović Jesenovec from UL, the project lead partner, presented a poster titled “Defining spatial conditions for quality of life in the Alps” during the Young researchers’ poster pitch session. The presentation explored the most relevant spatial conditions affecting quality of life and examined how these can be defined within the Alpine context.
