Regional Utilities Exchange on Hydrogen Solutions in the AMETHyST Context

At a recent meeting in Penzberg, regional municipal utilities came together to discuss future energy solutions, with hydrogen as a central topic. Organized by EWO, the event fostered exchange on practical approaches to integrating hydrogen at the local level.

Norbert Zösch from Stadtwerk Haßfurt presented pioneering efforts in hydrogen-based energy systems. Haßfurt’s setup—including wind turbines, an electrolyzer, a hydrogen CHP plant, and battery storage—demonstrates how municipal utilities can take a leading role in the energy transition.

The meeting supported the goals of the AMETHyST project, which promotes knowledge-sharing and regional cooperation to scale up green hydrogen in Alpine areas. The event highlighted how collaboration between local utilities is key to unlocking hydrogen’s full potential.
