Slovenian national seminar took place on March, 31st, in the mountain village of Črna na Koroškem. It was organised in partnership with the Koroška infopoint of the Alpine Convention, linked to the visit of the Secretary General of the Alpine Convention. The aim of the seminar was to promote quality of a life as a concept, and also to elaborate on some of the challenges concerning quality of life in the Alpine municipalities. Therefore, the results of the 10th Report on the State of the Alps (RSA) were presented, together with the intermediate results of GOVQoL project with the focus on local roadmap for Črna na Koroškem and the handbook of good practices. In addition, the Slovenian partner of the OUT4INGOV Alpine Space project (which deals with the outmigration of the youth) was also invited and offered some examples of how this challenge could be addressed.

Initial input presentations were followed by a round table discussion on quality of life in connection with regional development and active public participation in policy-making.

The panel was composed of :

  1. the Secretary General of the Alpine Convention Alenka Smerkolj,
  2. the mayor of Črna na Koroškem Romana Lesjak,
  3. leading author of the RSA 10 from University of Ljubljana dr. Naja Marot,
  4. representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning Tomaž Miklavčič,
  5. director of the Regional Development Agency for Koroška Uroš Rozman.

The round table offered an opportunity to exchange the opinions between the stakeholders on different administrative levels and confront them with the findings on the governance capacities and frameworks on the local level.
