Jan 23, 2024

Success for the webinar on 19.01.2024 on circular economy and agri-food supply chain organized by LAMORO Development agency in collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo in the framework of the CEFoodCycle project, financed by the first call of the Alpine Space programme 2021-2027.

The webinar, moderated by LAMORO Development Agency and Sociography Research Foundation, compared the circular economy best practices within the agri-food supply chain, presenting concrete examples on how to valorise food waste and surplus from the agri-food supply chain to create new products and services by implementing innovative circular economy projects and fighting food waste.

After the introduction done by prof. Franco Fassio of the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo who framed the topic of the circular economy for food in a broader context of social, economic and environmental sustainability, the companies that have been able to use food waste as raw materials to create new value chains took the floor:

Emanuela Barbano from Biova srl www.biovaproject.com an innovative start-up that creates products in the food sector starting from the valorisation of food waste (for example producing beer from unsold bread),
Marco Vigato from Mixcycling srl www.mixcycling.com which produces bioplastics recovering industrial waste from the agri-food chain,
Tiziana Monterisi from Ricehouse s.r.l. www.ricehouse.eu which develops construction products from the recycling of rice processing waste,
Giorgio Iviglia, from Poliphenolia srl – Nobil Bio Ricerche srl www.poliphenolia.com which exploits the properties of polyphenols extracted from pomace to produce new products such as cosmetics.
The debate focused on the great potential of circularity in the agri-food system, highlighting the opportunities, but also the risks and possible contradictions of innovations.

The webinar will be followed up next March with the aim of creating a permanent environment of discussion that brings together all the circular economy initiatives within the agri-food supply chain that are developing in the regional territory.
