The University of Passau is a leading university in the Alpine region in business and economics, political science and cultural studies. The team working on Waterwise consists of the Bioeconomy Economics Research Group and the Chair of Physical Geography, with focus on Human-Environment Research, which will provide expertise in ecological economics and social studies, and address issues related to sustainable headwaters management at the pilot areas, including identifying strategies for resilient local economies, biodiversity and green economy.
UP’s contribution to Waterwise will be compiling socio-economic parameters and providing methodological guidance for structuring the stakeholder testing of the toolbox and engagement of local stakeholders in the co-design of headwaters sustainable management. UP will guide the other project partners to implement workshops in their own testing sites and will be responsible for facilitating discussion among stakeholders at the stakeholder testing sites in Germany.
