The DiMark project workshop on satellite data for environmental monitoring was held in Milan

On 10 February 2026, a technical workshop within the Interreg Alpine Space project DiMark took place at the CNR headquarters in Milan, bringing together researchers, technical experts and representatives of environmental institutions working on digital tools for environmental monitoring.

The workshop, organised by ARPAV in collaboration with CNR IREA, focused on the practical use of satellite Earth observation data for environmental monitoring and decision-making support in public administration.
Participants explored several thematic areas, including:
• water monitoring and hydrology
• vegetation, biodiversity and wildfire risk
• climate change monitoring using satellite time series
• snow and ice monitoring and seasonal dynamics
• practical applications of remote sensing software in public administration

The workshop also provided space for discussion, exchange of knowledge and joint planning of upcoming project activities, strengthening cooperation among Italian partners of the DiMark project.

The event highlighted the important role of satellite data and digital Earth observation tools in improving environmental monitoring, supporting climate adaptation measures and strengthening risk prevention strategies across the Alpine region.
The DiMark project aims to build a transnational network linking digital Earth observation tools with freshwater monitoring systems to understand climate-related changes and support evidence-based environmental decision-making in the Alpine Space.
