Description
On 31 March, CIPRA France organised a conference in Grenoble on local governance in the Alps, in the post-local elections context, to reflect together on the various ways of participating in democratic life – and on the impact of citizen participation on quality of life.

In the company of Albane Roussot, Françoise Bellanger, Antoine Pin, Camille Riom and Julika Jarosch, we explored how local authorities, elected representatives and associations are working together to strengthen governance, encourage civic engagement and build a democratic society tailored to the challenges facing the Alps.

📌 On the agenda:
✅ An analysis of the 2026 French municipal elections and their impact on Alpine regions.
✅ Inspiring initiatives such as the work of the Grenoble Alpes Métropole Development Council, the Olympic Citizens’ Convention organised by Protect Our Winter France, and the efforts to encourage citizen participation in the municipality of Veynes (a pilot area for the GOVQoL project).
