From February 21 to 23, we had the opportunity to present our innovative “Climatefit Construction” advisory service at ComBau, the largest trade fair for construction, renovation, and sustainable living concepts in Vorarlberg. The fair attracted several thousand visitors and featured 180 exhibitors, making it a prime venue to raise awareness about climate-resilient building practices.
In collaboration with the Bundeswehrhochschule München and Wasserwirtschaft Vorarlberg, we set up an interactive exhibit showcasing extreme weather models. Visitors were able to observe and engage with simulations of heavy rainfall events affecting a village, a street, and a building. These models demonstrated various methods to mitigate flooding and enhance climate resilience. Additionally, we distributed flyers detailing our new climate-fit counselling service, developed as part of the ADAPTNOW initiative to support citizens in adapting to changing climate conditions.
Our exchange partner, the ENU from Lower Austria, was also present, represented by Tino Blondiau, Head of Climate Change Adaptation. Interest in our presentation was particularly high on Sunday, as the rainy weather provided a fitting backdrop for our flood prevention demonstrations. Visitors were keen to explore practical solutions for protecting their homes and infrastructure against extreme weather events.
The enthusiastic engagement at ComBau highlights the growing concern and demand for climate-adaptive building strategies. We look forward to continuing our mission of promoting resilient construction and providing expert guidance to those looking to safeguard their properties from future climate challenges.
