SAVE THE DATE AMETHYST EXCHANGE PROGRAM, 10 APRIL 2025, PALUZZA, ITALY

Feb 7, 2025

On 10 April 2025, in Paluzza (Italy), the AMETHyST consortium will organize the fourth Exchange Program for companies, public authorities, and experts, focusing on policies and pilot projects for the deployment of hydrogen applications. This edition of the exchange program will focusing on the implementation of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) and a local pilot project to decarbonize a ski resort with hydrogen powered snow groomers.

The 4th AMETHyST Exchange Program edition, will be kicked-off with an experts table that be organized with a focus on the implementation of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV). It will be followed by a study visit of the AMETHyST hydrogen pilot project. The NAHV involves a partnership of 37 organisations covering the transnational Central European area of Slovenia, Croatia and the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia. The partnership aims at demonstrating cross-border integration of hydrogen production, distribution and consumption, and building up capacities for an annual hydrogen production of over 5000 tons of which over 20% is expected to be exchanged within the area of the NAHV. Within the NAHV, 17 testbed applications will be implemented within the sectors of the hard-to-abate industries, energy as well as transport sectors.

The aim of the AMETHyST pilot project in Friuli Venezia Giulia is to lay the basis to create a supply chain that goes from the production of green hydrogen to the end user: a promising area for the development of this supply chain has been identified in the Alto Bût Valley, where the hydroelectric cooperative SECAB has been operating for more than a hundred years. Through a feasibility study, the AMETHyST project partner APE is analyzing the decarbonization potentials of the Zoncolan ski resort – supplied by SECAB and managed by PromoTurismo FVG – through the application of snow groomers powered by local green hydrogen, produced and distributed within the Alpine valley itself.
