Youth participation is key to the democratic and inclusive development of local communities. The event will highlight this fact by showing approaches and funding opportunities available. It is a follow-up event of the “Getting more children and young people participating in the workings of democracy: success stories” event, organised by DG JUSTICE and EACEA during the European Week of Regions and Cities.

One of the showcases presented will be GaYA, a project co-financed by the Interreg Alpine Space programme in 2014-2020. Their project partners tested many ways to involve young people in local decision-making. As municipalities often meet similar obstacles when trying to increase youth participation, GaYA included in its toolbox a set of “try different” cards, each highlighting how an alternative approach can help overcome these issues.
